We believe He is the manifestation of God in the flesh. We believe He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. We believe Him to be true God and true man (<a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/John%201.1\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"John 1.1\">John 1:1<\/a>, <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/John%201.14\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"John 1.14\">1:14<\/a>, <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/John%201.18\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"John 1.18\">1:18<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/John%2014.8-9\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"John 14.8-9\">John 14:8-9<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/1%20Timothy%203.16\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"1 Timothy 3.16\">1 Timothy 3:16<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h3>Holy Spirit<\/h3>\n<p>We believe in the total deity of the Holy Spirit and that His ministry is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ (<a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/John%2016.14\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"John 16.14\">John 16:14<\/a>). The Holy Spirit regenerates the sinner upon belief in Christ, baptizing the believer into one body of which Christ is the head. The Holy Spirit indwells, guides, instructs, fills, comforts and empowers the believer for godly living (<a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Mark%2013.11\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Mark 13.11\">Mark 13:11<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/John%2014.26\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"John 14.26\">John 14:26<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/John%2016.13\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"John 16.13\">John 16:13<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Romans%205.5\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Romans 5.5\">Romans 5:5<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/1%20Corinthians%203.16\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"1 Corinthians 3.16\">1 Corinthians 3:16<\/a>). The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, of God\u2019s righteousness and of coming judgment (<a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/John%2016.8-11\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"John 16.8-11\">John 16:8-11<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>While we believe that the Scriptures do not teach that certain gifts have ceased, they indicate that use of the gifts vary according to the need that each gift meets. We believe the 66 books of the Old Testament and the New Testament are God\u2019s complete and sufficient revelation and therefore carry God\u2019s authority for the total well-being of mankind (<a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Psalm%20119.97-104\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Psalm 119.97-104\">Psalm 119:97-104<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Psalm%20119.160\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Psalm 119.160\">Psalm 119:160<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Matthew%205.18\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Matthew 5.18\">Matthew 5:18<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/John%205.46-47\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"John 5.46-47\">John 5:46-47<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/John%2010.35\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"John 10.35\">John 10:35<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/2%20Timothy%203.15-16\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"2 Timothy 3.15-16\">2 Timothy 3:15-16<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h3>Man<\/h3>\n<p>We believe man was created in innocence under the law of his Maker but, by voluntarily transgressing, fell from his sinless and happy state. Consequently, all mankind is sinful. All people are sinners not only by inheritance, but by their own choice and therefore are under just condemnation without defense or excuse. We believe that without exception every man and every woman is totally depraved and needs a Savior (<a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Genesis%203.1-6\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Genesis 3.1-6\">Genesis 3:1-6<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Romans%203.10-19\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Romans 3.10-19\">Romans 3:10-19<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Romans%201.18\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Romans 1.18\">Romans 1:18<\/a>, <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Romans%201.32\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Romans 1.32\">Romans 1:32<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Romans%205.1-2\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Romans 5.1-2\">Romans 5:1-2<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h3>Salvation<\/h3>\n<p>We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice. We believe that each person who by faith receives Him as personal Savior is justified on the basis of Jesus Christ\u2019s shed blood on Calvary. Each person who receives Christ as personal Savior is born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby becomes eternally secure as a child of God. We believe the Holy Spirit baptizes each believing person into the body of Christ at the moment of salvation and that there is no second baptism of the Holy Spirit (<a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Romans%208.37-39\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Romans 8.37-39\">Romans 8:37-39<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/2%20Corinthians%205.21\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"2 Corinthians 5.21\">2 Corinthians 5:21<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/1%20Corinthians%2012.13\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"1 Corinthians 12.13\">1 Corinthians 12:13<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h3>Resurrection<\/h3>\n<p>We believe in the resurrection of the body of our Lord Jesus Christ, His ascension into heaven and His present life for us as High Priest and Advocate (<a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Acts%201.3\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Acts 1.3\">Acts 1:3<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Acts%201.9\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Acts 1.9\">Acts 1:9<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Hebrews%207.25-26\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Hebrews 7.25-26\">Hebrews 7:25-26<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h3>Heaven, Hell and the Return of Christ<\/h3>\n<p>We believe in the \u201cblessed hope\u201d: the personal, premillenial return of the Lord Jesus Christ. His return has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer (<a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/1%20Thessalonians%204.13-18\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"1 Thessalonians 4.13-18\">1 Thessalonians 4:13-18<\/a>). We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost. The saved are raised to eternal, conscious bliss in heaven (<a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Matthew%2025.34\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Matthew 25.34\">Matthew 25:34<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/John%2014.2\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"John 14.2\">John 14:2<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/2%20Corinthians%205.1\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"2 Corinthians 5.1\">2 Corinthians 5:1<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Revelation%202.7\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Revelation 2.7\">Revelation 2:7<\/a>) the lost are raised to eternal torment in hell in conscious separation from God. (<a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Matthew%208.11\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Matthew 8.11\">Matthew 8:11<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Matthew%2010.28\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Matthew 10.28\">Matthew 10:28<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Matthew%2013.49-50\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Matthew 13.49-50\">Matthew 13:49-50<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Mark%209.47-48\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Mark 9.47-48\">Mark 9:47-48<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Luke%2012.5\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Luke 12.5\">Luke 12:5<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Revelation%2021.8\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Revelation 21.8\">Revelation 21:8<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h3>Church<\/h3>\n<p>Upon accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, a believer becomes part of His body, which is the church. There is one church universal, composed of all those throughout the world who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. The Scriptures command believers to gather in order to devote themselves to worship, prayer, teaching of the Word, observance of the ordinances (baptism and communion), fellowship, service to the body through the development and use of talents and gifts, and outreach to the world in fulfillment of the command of Christ to make disciples of all believers (<a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Ephesians%205.23\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Ephesians 5.23\">Ephesians 5:23<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Romans%2012.1\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Romans 12.1\">Romans 12:1<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Acts%202.42-46\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Acts 2.42-46\">Acts 2:42-46<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/1%20Corinthians%2014.26\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"1 Corinthians 14.26\">1 Corinthians 14:26<\/a>; <a class=\"lbsBibleRef\" href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Matthew%2028.18-20\" target=\"_blank\" data-version=\"esv\" data-reference=\"Matthew 28.18-20\">Matthew 28:18-20<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Wherever God\u2019s people meet regularly in obedience to this command, there is the local expression of the church \u2013 under the oversight of elders and other supportive leadership.
